Beste boek wat ek in n lang tyd gelees het! Ek kon dit nie neersit nie. Soos Piet beskryf word in die boek moet hy n ongelooflike mens wees om te ontmoet. Welgedaan aan Hanlie! En... Piet, dankie dat jy jou werk so puik gedoen het! Ek was nog nooit uiters negatief oor SA nie, maar na die land het ek sommer baie hoop! Daar is inderdaad nog mense in die Polisie wat omgee.
Aangrypend! Retief het goeie navorsing gedoen vir die boek. Byleveld was 'n interessante kêrel. Ek beveel dit sterk aan.
Both interesting and shocking, but so greatful to know that there are people in South Africa that are able to cope with this country's heart breaking criminal situation. A man willing to give his life to solve the cases in which ohers lost theirs. Great respect for Piet Byleveld. Will there ever be another as dedicated to this difficult job? I have enjoyed this book. Great read and quite an eyeopener.
Ek en my vrou het die inhoud van die boek besonder insiggewend gevind veral ten opsigte van die deeglike ondersoek metodes wat Piet Byleveld toegepas het. Hy is voorwaar 'n baas speurder. Hanlie Retief die skrywer verdien 'n pluimpie dat sy ten spyte van die afgryslike geweld van die gevalle wat geboekstaaf word die leser steeds geprikkel hou om verder te lees. Ons beveel die boek hoog aan.
Die boek het my aangegryp en ek het dit fassinerend gevind om te lees hoe hy van die sake opgelos het. Ek dink Suid-Afrikaners sal die boek die meeste waardeer omdat hulle bewus is van die huidige misdaad-situasie wat onuithoudbaar geraak het. Omdat almal ook hierdie sake in die koerant en media gevolg het, is dit nou baie lekker om te lees hoe dit opgelos is en is jy dankbaar vir iemand soos Piet Byl wat sulke vreeslike mense kon wegsit agter tralies.
Piet Byleveld (or "Piet Byl", as he's known in South Africa) is undoubtedly one of the best investigators of all time. His success included a conviction in the infamous Leigh Matthews case, as well as a number of South African serial killers who were brought to book. I enjoyed the author's writing style and although I initially expected the content of each murder to be discussed down to the very last, macabre detail, this was not the case. Hanlie focuses on Piet's methodology, his no-nonsense yet empathetic approach towards suspects which resulted in numerous confessions.
